re: Flex and 10th Anniversary raiding
on 11-08-2014 17:58

Samsara have contacted me to try to re-start the flex raiding on a Friday evening. I have therefore added Flex for Friday this week with the same requirements/times as usual ... 9pm Server Time start; bring flasks and be repaired ... ideally DPS want to be doing at least 100k dps although there may be some wiggle room, depending on the section we do. Samsara should be able to provide at least one tank. Teamspeak IS required ... for instructions on how to download and set it up, click here.
We have also been discussing the 10th Anniversary raid.
As you may already know, Blizzard have announced various special events to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of World of Warcraft. One of those "events" is a 40 man LFR into Molten Core. The reward for completing it is a Molten Core mount.
Samsara have suggested that we might get together to take on the raid together ... it will take place in November with max-level characters ... therefore level 100 characters only.
We do not currently know what sort of gear level will be required, but it would be really great if, between us, we could muster a group of 40 .. even if it includes some off-realm friends of guild members. Samsara are willing to provide the Teamspeak server so we can discuss tactics and basically get rather rowdy.
Once we know when the raid opens up, I'll put it up on the calendar ... so if you fancy a new mount and the opportunity to take part in a completely bonkers 40 man raid - possibly with upgrades and/or transmog gear as well .. keep an eye out for it and sign up :-)

Blimey! not done a 40-man raid for *ages*!!!
Flex sounds fun (again) - just hope we can do Garrosh for a chance of the really cool weapons :-D

I'm hoping for that .. I've volunteered PE for the later two sections and Row/a dps for the first two sections but am hoping we have a chance at Garrosh a few times before WoD pre-launch comes out. That does depend on the characters people are willing to bring, however.

Although the turn-out from the Samsara side was rather disappointing (3 plus one extra I persuaded to come for extra heals), all but one seeming to be rather new to the instance/low level gear, their two tanks were decent guys and we managed almost two full sections (1 and 3) .. just missing out on the last boss of 3. So far we don't have many signed for the next one, but I'm hoping for a decent turn-out ... I think it might be worth trying 3rd section first next time, if the same tanks come.
As far as the 10th Anniversary Molten Core thing goes, I've checked in the beta and currently it is showing as starting on the 23rd November and ending on the 7th December.
This means that there will be just under two weeks from the launch date of WoD (13th November) until the start of the Anniversary. I don't know how fast people will level, but obviously we'll need a LOT of people at level 100 between the two guilds in order to take advantage of the MC LFR purely from our and Samsara guild members. I'd suggest aiming for Friday 28th November at the latest, so that we'd have time to have a few goes at it, assuming it leaves the game on the 7th December - but that is (a) dependent on those dates being correct and (b) open to discussion with Samsara.

I thought the anniversary LFR MC was for current level 90s? I hate being rushed through levelling :( need to check on that as I really wanted to go for that battle pet (yes I am obsessed), but no way I will level in that speed as I barely get time to play now...poo

We haven't specifically been told it is for level 100's ... what they have said is "For the anniversary celebration, max-level players will be able to participate in a special 40-player Raid Finder version to relive the experience of hunting down Ragnaros and his minions within his fiery lair. Downing the Firelord will earn you an Achievement and a special Core Hound mount reward (fireproof leg armor not included)."
The level referred to of course depends on when the Anniversary celebration is, related to when the expansion comes out .. the expansion is due out 13th November and, from the information given in-game in the beta at the moment, it seems the Anniversary is between 23rd November and 7th December.
I am therefore currently assuming that the MC LFR will only be on during that time .. but they may decide to launch it around then but keep it around a lot longer (it seems a lot of work for them to make MC current, relevant and a 40 man LFR to only have it around for 3 weeks .. but perhaps they have other ideas)
You will still get the Molten Corgi pet regardless, as that is just for logging in during the Anniversary .. but apparently there is a mount reward for completing MC 40-man LFR, and I've seen somewhere that there is a random pet drop as well inside the raid.
Blizzard's information regarding the Anniversary is here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/15107686/gearing-up-to-celebrate-10-years-of-world-of-warcraft-8-6-2014

Yeah I read the same, it is ambiguous on the level thing. Fingers crossed they let if be a lvl 90 thing.

I wouldn't count on it. By the time the anniversary takes place, "max level" will be 100. Nothing ambiguous about that, alas.
Back when MoP came out, players complained about Coren Direbrew being max level (Brewfest was from 28-09 till 13-10 that year), giving players a very, very small window to level their characters and get some of the upgraded trinkets. Many players felt it made the event boss rather useless, as hardly anybody would be able to get it and a year later those trinkets would have become redundant. Blizzard moved the event slightly to favour them (it was initially planned to be from 20-9 till 05-10), but didn't make any changes about level requirements.
I doubt they're going to change the date of the Anniversary (which is, after all, a set date), but perhaps they'll be lenient and prolong the anniversary festivities to give more people a chance to hit 100 before it's over. But I wouldn't count on them lowering the bar to 90, that'd make no sense.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Yeah .. I remember that with the Brewfest.
Bearing in mind that it will be an LFR and that there will probably be a large number of people wanting to go for it generally, I don't foresee any problems with long queues for it, even near the end of the event, which gives about 3 weeks and, as I mentioned before, there is the possibility that the MC part of the event may continue on afterwards ... we can hope, anyway.
I'll keep an eye open for any specific news.
