The pre-expansion patch is due in the near future and Wowhead have put together a guide of what to expect, including the pre-patch event, interface changes, content being removed, class changes, stat squish and loads more.

I did note the comment about reforging being removed and that current reforged items would be reverted back to their original state.  So, it's money down the drain if you're thinking to reforge for current content.

Well, only if you're not planning on running any more content at optimum before the patch, I guess.
