The 15-year WoW anniversary event starts this week. This means we can get some gifts and start reliving some epic BC, WotLK and Cata boss encounters with the Memories of Azeroth event, leading us straight into Deathwing's arms. Or well, wings. Look, you get the Deathwing mount when you complete the event, ok?
We also get to experience Alterac Valley once more and get even more mounts there, with the Stormpike Battle Ram on the Alliance side and the Frostwolf Snarler for Horde. There's also rewards that don't have to do anything for, namely Lil'Nefarian and some XP and rep gain boosters, fireworks and a new Heaarthstone that takes us to the Caverns of Time!
And we'll have plenty of time to get all this done, as the event lasts until January!
15th Anniversary
This November marks the 15th anniversary of World of Warcraft, and we have some special things planned to commemorate the occasion.
When: November 5, 2019 – January 7, 2020 (The Americas) November 6, 2019 – January 8, 2020 (Europe) November 7, 2019 – January 9, 2020 (Asia)
New Raids: Memories of Azeroth
Chromie has separated the strands of time, allowing you to go back and relive epic raid encounters from Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm. Each of these limited-time raids will feature three iconic bosses, and they’ll be available as their own wings through the Raid Finder.
To enter the raid, you need a minimum item level of 380. Players who complete all three wings will receive the achievement Memories of Fel, Frost and Fire which grants the Obsidian Worldbreaker, a Black Dragonflight mount inspired by Deathwing.
Return to Alterac Valley of Olde
Run down your enemies, raze their fortifications, and exchange the tokens you loot from their corpses to summon mighty reinforcements in Korrak’s Revenge, a throwback Battleground inspired by the earliest days of Alterac Valley.
Players who participate in Korrak’s Revenge and complete the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement can earn two new mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).
Anniversary Gift
Get ready to celebrate 15 years of World of Warcraft in style! Everyone who logs in during the event period will receive an Anniversary Gift in the mail, which includes a Lil’ Nefarian battle pet, a Celebration Package that increases experience and reputation gains throughout the event, a reusable firework that can be used for the duration of the event, an item that teleports you to the Caverns of Time (usable only during the event), and other in-game goodies.
This pocket-sized Lord of Blackrock is too small to call out any classes, but he can still dish up a good insult.
As soon as the event goes live, you can log in and will receive the achievement WoW's 15th Anniversary, and an Anniversary Gift in your mail. In your gift you will receive:
Invitation from the Timewalkers - A breadcrumb quest leading us to the Memories of Azeroth raid. From this quest line, we'll receive an item that can teleport us to Caverns of Time for the duration of the event.
Alterac Valley of Olde (Battleground)
Alterac Valley of Olde is a version of Alterac Valley similar to that in Classic/Vanilla, but not identical. This version will have you summoning bosses, completing quests and battling your way to victory. This version of Alterac Valley has no reinforcements or time limit, so be prepared for a potentially long match!
The Memories of Azeroth raid is a three winged timewalking-esque raid. These three wings will be available through raid finder, and will feature three iconic bosses each from Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm. These raid wings require a minimum of 380 item level to participate.
The world bosses are back and they drop 400 ilvl loot. Make sure to grab The Originals quest from Historian Llore or Historian Ju’pa. Note that it’s now a weekly quest instead of a daily, but you can also do it every week until January. The world bosses are still daily for loot chances and they drop good loot for transmog, including old appearances that were removed. Their difficulty has apparently been nerfed and are easier to kill.
Vendors and rewards
Usually Llore and Ju’pa act as anniversary vendors, but this year Historian Ma’di has the job. She sells all the anniversary items from the past several years, including Bronze-Tinted Sunglasses and Overtuned Corgi Goggles. You can still do the daily trivia quests from Llore or Ju’pa for 5 badges each day.

A comment on wowhead gave an easy way to get the badges .. although it does mean you won't actually really be taking part in the battleground itself:
I found a way to easily get the 200 badges in AV for the mounts: When playing as Horde as soon as the battle starts head to the stable master to the east of the "east frostwolf tower" there you'll see a quest that asks you to muzzle 1 frostwolf e bring it back to the NPC in exchange for 5 badges. The thing is, even though it's a yellow quest once you deliver it you can pick it up again and do it as many times as you want, you just have to be careful to wait for the wolf to disappear before accepting the quest again or else it'll get stuck and you won't be able to pick another to complete the quest. Keep doing it until you get 200 badges. It took me like 30 minutes to get it, and since it's basically in the Horde side of thing, as long as the team is fighting in the middle, you won't even see anyone coming to bother you :D
