There appears to have been some confusion over one of our guild admin rules. Namely, that the first character you join with is classed as your "main", and any subsequent characters are tagged as "alts". As has been mentioned previously, and shown in various locations, the words "main" and "alt" DO NOT describe which character is your current main (the one you play the most) and which characters you do not. They are simply convenient words to use and could more appropriately be stated as "first" and "subsequent". But "main" and "alt" are more easily recognised, so we use those.
The other issue raised is that someone no longer wishes to have the character referred to in the roster as their "main", be referred to as their main. This is completely up to you. If you wish someone to refer to you as something other than the current character you're playing, or your "main" linked to it, then you can (a) add that nickname in the public notes against your "main" only (b) use an addon such as Identity-2 to show your preferred name in guild/group chat and (c) request that your preferred name be added alongside your "main" name on discord in the format Main/Nickname.
As I have explained on multiple occasions, we do not generally change which is tagged as your main. For the following reasons: (a) if we do it for one, we have to do it for all, (b) some people switch which character they're mainly playing on a regular basis, and we'd be constantly switching mains for people, (c) some people have a lot of alts .. switching "main" means amending the public note on every single alt they have, changing the tag on our guild roster manager addon and changing their discord nickname. I have plenty of other stuff to do, admin takes up a considerably amount of my time, and spending even more time doing something like this - that you can essentially do for yourself, is just a step too far.
If anyone has any questions about this, requires additional clarification, or perhaps a suggestion on how to word it more clearly on our various sites to make it more self explanatory as to why this is how we do it, please let me know.
