The Cataclysm launch tried to live up to its name, by causing many many people to be unable to log into the game. Hopefully once things have calmed down, logging in will go back to normal, however, questing may become a chore.
A nice little hint over at MMO-Champion suggested that, if you are having problems handing in quests, etc, or interacting with NPC's, you use the /tar NPCNAME, and then use a keybinding in order to interact with the target.
Instructions on how to create a keybinding are in our forums:

Hehe ... by the time you get back, hopefully it will have settled down a bit. Really ... unless you are desperate to level a character from 80-85, or you are desperate to start a new worgen or goblin, most things should carry on as normal - in fact normal levelling and questing may even be quieter.
The servers were mental last night .. people logging off to activate the new areas but not getting back on again. I just sat and watched, as my Cataclysm hasn't arrived yet
The main new things to affect a levelling character will be the new guild achievements and reputation (which I've still got to look into in greater depth) and Archaeology, which is a new trainable secondary profession (which means it doesn't take up one of your two "primary profession" slots).

Yeah .. apparently Royal Mails fault. According to Amazon they handed over the package very early on the morning of the 6th. The Royal Mail tracker shows it as in their system and "in transit". Must be carrier pigeon - a dead one - to move that slow. Amazon guaranteed for it to be delivered on the 7th. *shrugs*
It still hasn't arrived. I've given up waiting and downloaded the digital one this morning.
