@ Seth .... no worries, and its nice to have you wink

@ Dwibble ... noted I hope everything is going okay - I realise we're possibly a bit more casual than you expected and hope it doesn't affect how you feel about sticking around. 2 more weeks, then I get 3 weeks off .... I'm up for anything, any day, then twisted

re: Promotions

I think we just need to get more organised really. The days when I'm not able to run a heroic, we need someone to heal, which is sometimes a problem, although if all else fails, there's nothing wrong with pugging one.

We also need people to know their own abilities. If they need to run some normals first, to get organised and get cracking through them - I'm happy to help out but, especially when I'm working, I feel I'm trying to spread myself too thinly - 4 evenings to do raiding, normals and heroics, plus dailies and the several hours each week (at least) it takes to admin the guild and website.

Ideally all runs should be completely in-guild, because it's much easier to do a run without pugging (depending on which random person you get), but also it helps everyone know what guild mates are capable of. It's easy enough to say "I can do X dps on a target dummy", but it is completely different in a "real" instance. If we can get people running heroics (and normals) more regularly together, it keeps people honest, and it gives people a way of comparing their performance with others, who they can then discuss the results with.

I've found that the majority of time I've learned something new, it has been running a instance with a full guild group, and I've spotted someone doing something I've never thought of, or someone has mentioned a new way of doing something. If that makes sense tongue out Running with pug groups, 9 times out of 10 that will not happen, so people have no reason to improve, or an indication of how to improve.

And the more people improve, the more confident and better they will get, the easier and faster heroic runs will be, and the more heroics will actually be completed.

And we have to understand, fairly soon patch 4.1 will be coming out - and with it several new heroic instances that are going to be harder, but with better loot, than the current heroics. If we want to be able to run those, we need people to have already gotten to the stage where they can run most current heroics easily. There is no way that we will be able to go through one of the new heroics (or, even, most of the current heroics) whilst "carrying" someone.

I'll attempt to put some sort of guidelines together as to what sort of stats are expected for the two tiers of heroics, and entry level raiding - if anyone finds any resources, that would be cool.

At a rough guess, I'd estimate that current heroics entry should be around 6k minimum, and really should be around 8-10k dps - although this does depend on how well you know the tactics and what your class can do. If you're a bit vague, then more dps is better, in order to "bully" your way through, conversely, if you know the fights and your abilities well, you could get away with less.

Entry level raiding has been posted before as being at a minimum of 10k, but bearing in mind the raid bosses I've seen, at least, often require movement and plenty of tactics, you should be looking to possibly around the 12k mark.

Note that the figures above are "real" dps, and not target dummy figures.
