re: New Boss Downed!

Congratulations to everyone who helped ... both on tonight's raid and previous ones ... we finally downed Al'Akir!
This means that the guild has gained several new achievements AND a new mount - and some of us have now gained a new achievement and corresponding title.
The intention is to try and mop up a few extra bosses that various people have missed, in order for them to gain the title, before starting on Firelands bosses. Although we may "mix and match" a bit depending on timescales.

I think we were all very surprised we did it ... Tak was getting to the stage of offering favours if we managed to kill him, so things were getting interesting!
I think that once you have actually been confirmed, you can't change your status to tentative (or you can, but it doesn't appear to show). You can take your name off completely, or you can change your status from accepted (yes you can go, but you haven't been selected as a team member yet) to tentative, but it can't seem to cope with having been selected AND being on tentative.
I could be talking complete guff, of course, but I've noticed that once you change someone from say, tentative, to standby, you no longer keep that tentative status (which is why, when people sign initially as tentative, I never change their status, so that I know there is a possibility they won't be able to make it).
In effect .. the status given to a player by a raid organiser may be over-riding whatever status a player puts on, other than if they remove their name completely.
We may have to experiment!
As far as the boss fight goes, in the end we discovered that, with the raid well spread out, and a bit of luck, we actually only needed 2 healers for this fight. The extra dps meant that phase 1 (which is generally the most healer-intensive phase) lasted a much shorter period of time, and spreading out more meant less people getting hit at any one time by the lightning.
