Please, please, please tell me that panther isn't faction specific (ie. Alliance!)!

The only thing that I get slightly jealous about is the fact that Night Elves get pretty much all the "cat" mounts. Okay, yeah, I saw a Zul'Gurub tiger drop once but someone else won that in the group (I should have ninja'd it... they stopped playing WoW a few weeks later!) and there is the Spectral Tiger if you're rich... but I wants a "cat" mount.

Last time I saw, the cat mounts were actually Profession specific - made by jewelcrafters. If I recall correctly, the last time I looked there was something like 4 "basic" cat mounts, and then an epic one, made by making an extra of each of the basic ones and then combining them. But that recipe has changed a couple of times now, so no doubt will change again.

I don't know if it will be BoE - but I'm also not sure if they're going to do the same with the mounts as they're planning to with the companion pets, ie, make them account-wide.

Speaking of which .. I saw someone in Orgrimmar the other day on a black panther mount - where's that from?

The panther is a rare drop from the cat lady in Zul Gurub http://www.wowhead.com/item=68824/swift-zulian-panther

I'll hazard a guess that the Black Panther mount you saw is the Swift Zulian Panther from the re-done Zul'Gurub. It's a rare drop from High Priestess Kilnara, much like the now-unavailable Swift Zulian Tiger mount was in the original incarnation of ZG.

Jewelcrafter specific isn't too much of a chore, assuming my Rogue remains my "everything but raiding" main as she is a Jewelcrafter.
