re: Patch 5.2 Release Date and More!
on 12-02-2013 10:00
The release date of the next patch has been announced (barring incidents involving fish and electricity) as the last week in February ... only a couple of weeks from now!
There is a big blog post over on the Blizzard site, explaining the general changes and what we can look forward to, boiled down to:
A new raid instance, opening up at Normal level in the first week, heroic and the first part of LFR in the second week.
LFR version of the new raid will require an ilevel of 480.
The new raid is located on a new island, which can be accessed via a portal near the Shado-pan daily quest hub - we will be getting a quest to go there on the patch release.
The island will be "gated", meaning that only part of it will be accessible at first - more will be opened up over time, a bit like the Isle of Quel'danas.
More pets, more mounts!
A new currency, similar to our coins of Charm - lesser charms will convert into the new Mogu Runes of Fate, which can be used in the new raid. Greater Charms (those we have currently) can be used as we do now, in the current raids, and will also drop from mobs in the new area.
Upgrade vendor going on holiday - if you want to upgrade your stuff, do it now! He may be back in a later patch.
Currency conversions, as usual, will be going ahead, but also the cost of current Valor gear will be getting reduced.
Alternative methods for Reputation gains - you will be able to "champion" one faction in your interface, that will give you a bonus rep reward for the first heroic and scenario you do each day. If you have your Tillers farm completely unlocked (ie, all 16 plots) and are Exalted with the Tillers, you will be able to carry out additional work on the farm for reputation with various factions.
