As you may know, Blizzcon is happening over this weekend, and inevitably they have announced the future for WoW, mainly through this panel:
They also hinted that they would be continuing after this ... so watch this space!
After I watched that, I was really excited about the idea of Garrisons and the improvements to quests items and bags, etc - we will have to see how it pans out for the future of raiding, but it sounds pretty cool so far.
I'm still wading through the masses of information out there that came from Blizzcon. Obviously be aware that some of this "news" may not actually happen - Blizz occasionally has a tendancy to announce something and then it doesn't happen, or doesn't happen at the announced time (think updated models, connected realms, etc).
The points I've come across so far seem to boil down to:
new area modelled on around the size and locations of Outland, however, back in time - the time of Thrall's father.
A world pvp area, with a new pvp rewards system.
Garrisons ... think farms supersized and combined into a Settlers mini-game: place your own selection of buildings; upgrade them; recruit NPCs; send them on missions.
A new raid system based on the new flex raiding. There will still be LFR, but then the equivalent of current Normal and Heroic versions will both become "flexible". You will still enter them as you do now, the number of loot drops and the difficulty will scale with the number there, on the fly (so if someone leaves or turns up late, everything automatically adjusts). LFR will also become more flexible - if someone drops mid-raid, the fights will adjust accordingly so you don't have to wait around (not sure this would work if, say, both tanks left though!)
LFR, Normal and Heroic modes will all be flexible, from 10-25 people. A new, harder, raid level will be introducted, called "Mythic". Mythic will not be flexible and will require 20 people.
Heirloom items (if you have them) will now be accessible from any of your characters and will not take up bag space.
Quest items will no longer take up bag space. Neither will all those cute but useless/fun items such as the puntable marmot - these will be accessible by a seperate interface screen.
Updated bag system so that you can sort them, assign specific contents per bag (for example: gear in one, herbs in another). It will also mark vendor trash for you, and highlight items that have been added to your bags since you last opened them.
There is no doubt tons more that's I've not even touched on .. feel free to add any additional info you come across!
