Raids Readiness, Heroics and Gear
As you know, we are currently working towards getting people ready for raiding Cataclysm raids. Unfortunately we seem to be a little behind at the moment - we have perhaps half a dozen ready for entry level raiding, but we're slowing down a little - probably due to lack of available tanks and healers on certain days/at certain times.
I'd like everyone to seriously consider whether or not they wish to raid. If they do wish to raid, to consider what they need to do in order to get raid ready. Often this is simply practice in normal and then heroic dungeons, together with improved gear - other times it could be as simple as reading up on the type of gear, gems and enchants needed, practicing any crowd control abilities, etc.
If people do wish to raid, and they have the entry level gear already, then consider helping those who haven't reached that point yet. You can only ever have one character at a time in a raid, so it doesn't matter how many alts you have raid ready, if there aren't enough individuals to actually go on a raid, its not going to make a difference.
Those who need to gear up .. do not expect to be dragged kicking and screaming through instances, or "boosted" in order to get your gear ... heroics are not the cakewalk that they used to be in Wrath and require a full group of people who know what they are doing in order to successfully complete them. Practice in normals, check out tactics on wowwiki/youtube, know your class and understand how to deal with crowd controlled pulls and what the various "target marks" mean.
At the very least, understand the basics of most fights, which involve:
* NOT standing in fire (or anything bad on the floor)
* NOT standing in front of the boss/next to the tank
* NOT out-aggroing the tank
* DO kill adds asap
* DO protect the healer (frost trap anyone?)
* DO run in if you can, when you die
If you do not know a fight, ask ... its quicker than recovering from a wipe
If you know you only have a limited time online and wish to do some instances, please add them to the calendar. Do not feel snubbed if you don't get a group up - other people may not be able to make the times that you can, but you are much more likely to get a group up if you "pre-book" them.
If you wish to go on a run, please sign up with the character you wish to take - it gives a better idea of what role you will be taking.
Most of all ... chill, relax and have fun.
