Blizzard have announced the new release date for Shadowlands - honestly earlier than I was expecting, as I was sure it was going to be mid-December:
"Greetings heroes of the Horde and the Alliance,
On behalf of the entire World of Warcraft team, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank-you for your patience as we’ve continued to work on Shadowlands, and for all of the words of support after we made the tough decision to delay the game. Today, I’m happy to share that the expansion will be arriving November 23 at 3 p.m. PST (November 24 at 12 a.m. CET).
We’d like to thank everyone across the WoW community who helped us get where we are today, including players leveling up new characters in the Shadowlands pre-patch (and keeping Azeroth’s barbers extra busy), as well as all the beta testers who continue to provide us with invaluable feedback on the expansion.
Since we first told you about our decision to delay, we’ve used the time to further polish the expansion and shore up the endgame, including overhauling the combat and rewards in the Maw, and reworking the Covenant systems to make your choice more immediately impactful and have clearer long-term goals. Now the team is in a great position to get things the rest of the way to the finish line before November 23—and as always, we’re committed to working with you to improve the game for as long as you’re out there playing it.
Now that we have our launch date, we’re also excited to tell you that our pre-launch event will kick off November 10, so steel yourselves to take on a flood of the Scourge. In addition, we’ve set a December 8 date for the opening of our first raid, Castle Nathria—which takes players into the heart of Sire Denathrius’ lair in Revendreth—along with the start of Shadowlands Season 1.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone take their first steps into the Shadowlands and forging their destinies—but in the meantime, we’d like to show you just a little bit of what’s waiting for you beyond the veil."
As there have been a few questions recently, again, regarding how we deal with "alts" and "mains", this indicates to me that perhaps our Guild Info page that touches on this subject, did not touch on it in enough detail, so that has now been updated.
Please have a read and, if anything doesn't appear clear, please feel free to reply below.
The new info is the last paragraph in this section: https://www.darkwolves.eu/gwiki/index.php?page_name=Guild_Info&gid=180473#Alts
As the Shadowlands pre-patch has now hit, the Werewolf rank will shortly be reset.
This means that all characters that are currently in the Werewolf rank will be placed back in either the Wolf or Wolf Alt rank.
Werewolf rank is designed to be a bonus rank for those who have reached Wolf/Wolf Alt rank, who regularly raid with that particular character, and gives them access on that character to slightly higher guild repairs, and an extra guild vault tab.
The guild vault tab has now been pretty much cleared out, with most being transferred to other tabs.
As we are now not planning on "officially" running any guild raids until we start the Shadowlands raids, there is no need to retain those characters in that rank. Once we start raiding again, characters will once again start being moved into that rank, from the Wolf/Wolf Alt rank, as they start regularly attending raids.
More information relating to the Werewolf rank can be found here: https://www.darkwolves.eu/gwiki/index.php?page_name=raiding_rules&gid=180473#werewolf
Blizzard have posted a brief run down of what to expect with the patch:
Character Boost Changes
With the upcoming character-level conversions in Shadowlands, Character Boosts will also change once the pre-expansion patch is live. You’ll want to plan ahead for how you want to use your boosts.
- Level 120 Character Boosts will boost characters to level 50 after the pre-expansion patch.
- Level 110 Character Boosts will boost characters to level 48 after the pre-expansion patch.
Levels, Items, and Stats Adjusted
With the pre-expansion patch, levels, items, and stats will be adjusted to make reaching a new level feel more meaningful while simultaneously making the leveling experience faster than before. Characters at level 120 will become level 50 after the content update.
New Starting Experience: Exile's Reach
Exile's Reach is an all-new starting experience that will take you on an excursion to a faraway island and introduce you to the fundamentals of playing World of Warcraft and your chosen class. If you’re new to World of Warcraft and have never created or leveled a character, you will automatically begin your journey into Azeroth with the starting experience. If you’re a veteran player or you’ve leveled a character before, you can choose to opt out of the starting experience and begin instead at level 1 in the starting area for your race.
Upon reaching level 10, new players will continue their journey through Battle for Azeroth and into Shadowlands.
/New Player Has Joined the Chat
After creating your new character and beginning your journey into World of Warcraft for the first time, you will automatically be added to a Newcomer Chat channel, where you can talk with other new players and seek advice from experienced players on the same faction who will be your guides as you level through the new starting zone of Exile's Reach. New players and guides will be able to recognize one another in the chat channels and by icons above their characters' heads that only they can see. Upon reaching level 20, new players will continue the journey ahead on their own and will no longer have access to the Newcomer Chat.
If you're a veteran player and interested in guiding new players as they experience World of Warcraft for the first time, head over to Stormwind or Orgrimmar and speak to the guide recruiter once you've met the following criteria:
- Have an account in good standing
- Reach level 50
- Complete 3,000 quests
- Earn at least two of the following achievements: Terrific Trio, Rival: Battle for Azeroth Season Four, Battle for Azeroth Keystone Conqueror: Season Four, The Waking Dream, or We Have the Technology.
If you no longer wish to be a guide, you can speak to guide recruiter once again.
Players who have already experienced Battle for Azeroth and reached level 50 on at least one character can choose to level any subsequent characters in a different expansion using Timewalking Campaigns. This new feature allows content from locations like Northrend or Pandaria to scale to a player’s level, so they can adventure from level 10 all the way to 50 and experience the stories of these areas at their originally intended pacing. Visit Chromie near the embassies in Stormwind or Orgrimmar to select your expansion leveling experience. If you'd like to select a different expansion to level through, simply speak to Chromie again.
Recruiting Allied Races
Players who are seeking to recruit a new Allied Race to their side will no longer need to earn Exalted reputation with their associated faction once the pre-expansion patch goes live. Players will still need to complete any achievements and story quests associated with the Allied Race to gain access, however.
Battle for Azeroth PvP Season 4 Ends and the Post-Season Begins
The gates will soon close on Battle for Azeroth PvP Season 4 with the release of the Shadowlands pre-expansion patch. Don’t worry though, you’ll still be able to take part in competitive PvP in a special post-season, which will end with the launch of the expansion. The new Shadowlands Season 1 will then go live shortly after the launch of Shadowlands.
If you participated in Season 4, to ensure you receive the rewards that you’re due, please keep the following in mind:
- Refrain from transferring your character(s) to another realm or faction until after Battle for Azeroth Season 4 has ended.
- Battle for Azeroth Season 4 titles and mounts will be awarded approximately two weeks after the season ends.
Don’t forget—end-of-season rewards are based on your faction. If you transfer your character to the other faction, you must have 50 wins after your transfer to receive the reward and 150 wins after your transfer to earn Gladiator and Corrupted Gladiator.
Jump Into Post-Season
Once the pre-expansion patch is live, we’ll be kicking off a special post-season that last until the launch of Shadowlands. While placement on the season ladder is locked for any end-of-season rewards such as the Gladiator mount or title, players will be able to continue to earn Conquest towards the Conquest Schedule, gain random PvP loot, and collect catch-up gear rewarded from strongboxes. Players will also be able to purchase Corrupted Aspirant gear from vendors located in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
Leaderboards Temporarily Offline
Please note that PvP Leaderboards will not be available once the pre-expansion patch goes live but will become available again with the start of the new Shadowlands PvP season.
Earning Flight in Warlords of Draenor and Legion
With the release of the Shadowlands pre-expansion patch, flying in Warlords of Draenor and Legion will no longer require earning the achievements Draenor Pathfinder and Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part Two, respectively.
Blizzard Have just announced the good news .. the pre-expansion patch is coming 14th October. Hurrah!
Just to make that good news all melt away into the Maw ... because the announced date for Shadowlands launch is no more. Currently there is no definite date - hopefully still this year, but the end of October launch is now not going to happen.
You can view the full announcement here: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/news/23536678/an-update-on-shadowlands
By request, I've created a resource site basically as a hub for information relating to, initially, dungeons within Shadowlands, but will be extended to include raids too.
This will not be a massive site with in-depth information on what various bosses do in instances, but should be a quick and easy way to get the most desperately needed information for any dungeon or raid encounter. Hopefully.
So basically there will be video guides, short lists of things to look out for, how to find the places, etc.
I'm open to suggestions within those parameters, and if anyone finds any resources that they think would be suitable, please let me know.
You can find the site here: Dark Wolves Resources
